They are frequently taken on site visits, such as visiting a factory to gain firsthand knowledge of how things are made and perceive the purpose of life. Rihla engages students in asking critical questions about real-life problems such as food security and climate change, and guides them through the process of creating and testing actual prototypes to solve those problems. For example, engaging students in farming on the school's own land, creating artefacts of their own design, addressing community needs and building consensus, and so on.

Keeping that in mind, Rihla ensures a cutting-edge campus and modern classroom, where teacher-created instructional videos replace lectures, students advance at their own paces, while teachers spend class time providing targeted support. Students' seating arrangements in the classroom are also modular, allowing them to switch between individual desks and round seating arrangements while brainstorming or thinking with the teacher. Teachers in Rihla's classrooms emphasise all modes of learning because each student has a different learning capacity, such as some who learn quickly by reading and others who learn quickly by seeing the lessons pictorially.

Rihla believes that whether or not children go on to become professional artists, the life skills they gain as they learn to be artists will help them get ready for the future. Children who participate in art-related activities like photography, calligraphy etc. at Rihla's art studio gain confidence in their capacity to overcome obstacles in a variety of other spheres of their lives. In the art studio, tasks like using a narrow paintbrush, using scissors, and sculpting with clay all require the use of fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
